SMS Opt-In and Message Flow

Last updated 19 August 2026

This page documents, for carrier and messaging compliance review, exactly how a person consents to receive text messages from this appointment scheduling tool. It shows the live opt-in page, the consent checkbox and the disclosure beside it, and every message the programme sends.

The opt-in page

Consent is collected on one page, which is public, requires no login, and is not behind a paywall. Anyone can open it:

https://appointments.murphs.dev/e/tithing-2026

Booking an appointment takes three steps on that single page. The mobile number field and the consent checkbox appear at step two, after a date and a time are selected, so the screenshots below show both states.

Step one, the page as it first loads

The full text-message disclosure is on this first screen, before any interaction, so it can be read without selecting anything.

The scheduling page as it first loads, listing available dates, with the full text message disclosure and links to the privacy policy and terms at the bottom.
Step one. The disclosure at the bottom states what is sent, how often, that message and data rates may apply, and both the HELP and STOP keywords, and links to the privacy policy and terms.

Step two, the consent checkbox

The booking form showing name, email, an optional mobile number field, and an unchecked consent checkbox reading Yes, text me reminders about this appointment, with the full disclosure directly beneath it.
Step two. The mobile number field is optional and the consent checkbox is unchecked. Nothing is pre-selected and nothing checks it automatically.

The consent language, exactly as it appears

Checkbox label:

Yes, text me reminders about this appointment.

Disclosure shown directly beneath the checkbox:

You will receive a confirmation, up to 3 reminders before the appointment, and a notice each time it is changed or cancelled. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel at any time.

Disclosure shown on the first screen, before any interaction:

Appointments are confirmed by email. Text reminders are optional: tick the consent box when you book and you will receive a confirmation, up to 3 reminders before the appointment, and a notice each time it is changed or cancelled. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel at any time.

How consent is handled

Messages the programme sends

Every message relates to the appointment the recipient booked. There is no marketing, no promotional content, and no third-party content.

  1. Confirmation, once, immediately after booking. The first message to any number, so it carries the opt-out disclosure.
  2. Reminders, up to three, before the appointment.
  3. Change notice, each time the appointment is rescheduled.
  4. Cancellation notice, if the appointment is cancelled.

Opting out

Replying STOP to any message opts the number out immediately, through standard carrier keyword handling. The phrase "Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel at any time" appears in the disclosure at the point of consent and in the first message sent to any number. Replying HELP returns help information. A person can also cancel the appointment itself using the link included in every message.
